In 2017 Wiser Academy proudly became an official training provider for apprenticeships following government accreditation.

The Academy takes pride in the fact they are from the Insurance industry, they know exactly the challenges and demands faced by insurance companies and brokers and how the right training can make a positive impact.
 


In April 2017 the Government introduced new legislation surrounding apprenticeships. The Apprenticeship Levy will affect employers in various sectors, one of which is the insurance industry.

The levy contribution will be applicable to all UK employers with an annual pay bill in excess of £3 million, in order to fund the new apprenticeship scheme.

Employers in England will have access to the Digital Apprenticeship Service (upon registration), so as to manage their own apprenticeship funds effectively.

The levy will be charged at a rate of 0.5% of an employer’s pay bill. Each employer will receive an allowance of £15,000 to offset against their levy payment.


 


Wiser Academy Apprenticeships programme has been designed specifically by professionals from the insurance industry for the insurance industry. The Academy will work in partnership with the employer to devise a programme which meets both the requirements of the syllabus as well as the business.

What makes Wiser Academy Apprenticeships unique?

  • The academy will utilise existing performance management and systems in order to build the apprenticeship delivery around the current training structure.

There are over 200 standards available in the UK for countless different industries.
Wiser Academy are able to deliver various apprenticeship standards for the insurance profession and wider financial sector.
The four main standards are attached below with a brief overview of each.

Financial Services Customer Advisor

  • The apprenticeship has been designed for front line customer facing roles.
  • Communication may take place; on office premises (branch), via telephone, over the internet or in an operations centre.
  • Skills and Behaviours: Customer Service, Delivering Results, Teamwork, Communication, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, Personal Development, Honesty and Integrity, Flexibility and Resilience.

Senior Financial Customer Service Advisor

  • The apprenticeship has been designed for customer facing front line roles which require a high level of technical knowledge and skills.
  • A typical activity may include understanding customer needs and meeting those needs with the right products and services.
  • Skills and Behaviours: Customer Relationship Management, Delivering Results, Teamwork, Communicating & Influencing, Problem solving, Continuous improvement, Personal Development, Honesty & Integrity, Flexibility and Resilience.

Insurance Practitioner

  • The apprenticeship has been designed as an entry level role into the insurance industry.
  • Appropriate for careers in (seeking or current); underwriting, client relations, insurance claims, loss adjusting, broking, reinsurance and account management.
  • Skills: Technical ability, Relationship development, Effective working and Governance.
  • Behaviours: Drive to excel, Communication, Personal Accountability, Innovation and Professionalism.

Insurance Professional

  • The apprenticeship has been designed to provide a development pathway allowing apprentices to specialise in a particular area of the insurance industry with the relevant professional qualification.
  • An apprentice could be involved in the following areas (dependent on their employer): Broking, Client Management, Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Loss Adjusting, Reinsurance, Risk Management, Complaint Handling, Product and Pricing.
  • Skills: Technical ability, Relationship development, Ownership and initiative, Governance, Advice and Support.
  • Behaviours: Drive to excel, Communication, Personal Accountability, Innovation and Professionalism.



Management Development Level 3

  • This apprenticeship has been designed for team leaders/supervisors.
  • Roles may include: Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager.
  • Skills: Leading people, managing people, building relationships, communication, organisational performance and personal effectiveness.
  • Behaviours: Takes responsibility, inclusive, agile and professionalism.

Management Development Level 5

  • This apprenticeship has been designed for an operations or departmental manager.
  • Roles may include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.
  • Skills: operational management, project management, finance, interpersonal excellence and personal effectiveness.
  • Behaviours: Takes responsibility, inclusive, agile and professionalism.

Digital Marketer

  • This apprenticeship has been designed to support and develop individuals whose job roles are currently based in digital marketing.
  • Typical job roles: Digital Marketing Assistant, Digital Marketing Co-ordinator, Campaign Executive, Social Media Executive, Email Marketing Assistant, SEO Executive, Analytics Executive, Digital Marketing Technologist.
  • Examples of Skills, Attitudes and Behaviours: • Logical and creative thinking skills • Analytical and problem solving skills • Can use own initiative
    • A thorough and organised approach • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations • Maintain productive, professional and secure working environment.
  • Behaviours: Takes responsibility, inclusive, agile and professionalism.




Originating from an insurance brokerage, Wiser Academy understands both the opportunities and challenges faced by businesses on a regular basis.

Previously apprenticeships have been a 'tick box exercise', the academy doesn’t believe in this method of delivery. Wiser Academy will analyse your businesses current training provisions (if any) and complete a GAP analysis in order to bridge any gaps with the relevant apprenticeship standard syllabus.
